Do I Have Good Credit?
Last week, we took a look at credit and what it is. If you missed last week’s blog, you can find it here. This week, we’re talking about how to see if you have a good credit score. Good credit scores can help you purchase a good car, house, or credit card and loans. To check if you have good credit, keep reading.
What are the credit bureaus?
You’re probably wondering, “Who is it that even makes sure if my credit is good or not?” Well, there are three major credit bureaus that give you a credit score from 300-850. The three reliable credit bureaus are Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
What is a good credit score?
If your credit score is 580-670, you’re looking at an okay score. Credit scores around 670-740 are considered good. Just good, not great. A great credit score is 740-800. An extraordinary, or A++, is an 800-850 score. The average credit scores are between 600 and 750.
How can I find out my credit score?
So! Now that you know what a good credit score is, let’s check out yours! To see your credit scores, go to Credit Karma. You can sign up for free. You have to enter your full name, address, birth date, and the last four digits of your social security number. If you’re worried about entering your full social security number, you shouldn’t be. The website is protected by using 128-bit encryption.
When you’re done entering the information, click “Next,” and the website takes you to the registration page. This is to confirm your identity. An example of some questions might be, “Who is the credit provider for this account?”, etc.
After you’re done filling out the information, click the “Get my score.” button and it will take you to a dashboard. Your credit scores should be displayed now! Congrats! You know your credit score! Your credit scores might be different since both companies have different formulas to make your score.
Your Experian score will not appear on the screen. This is because Experian doesn’t allow you to see your credit score for free on Credit Karma. When you click on the scores, TransUnion and Equifax will let you dig deeper into your score.
If your score goes down, you can click the “See What’s Changed” button. This will tell you why your credit score changed. Whether it went up or down, you can see through the list of your accounts and see details.
If you find your credit score isn’t exactly where you want it to be, don’t worry! There are ways to boost your credit. Companies like Experian Boost and Self can help you get to the score you want.
Rodeo Auto is a car company that can get your credit fixed, too. If you have little to no credit, you can still get approved for a vehicle. Rodeo Auto helps you gain credit with monthly payments designed specifically for you. To learn more about Rodeo Auto, click here.
